Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library nurtures a love for reading and learning among preschoolers by sending them a FREE, age-appropriate book every month until they celebrate their fifth birthday. Children who are enrolled at birth will accumulate a home library of 60 books! Any child under the age of five who lives in Beaufort or Hyde counties can participate, regardless of their family’s income.

Effective February 1, 2025, new registrations for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) in North Carolina will be restricted to certain counties that have locally funded accounts.

The program will remain available for new registrants in Beaufort and Hyde counties through local funding.

Local Enrollments Depend on Local Donations

New registrations for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library are currently supported by community partners and individual contributions. The success of local enrollment relies on donations from the community.
